Job Description
Overview:
- Overseeing and driving the successful execution of bioinformatics projects within a Life Sciences research and development (R&D) environment - Deep understanding of bioinformatics principles, technologies, and their application to life sciences research
- Work closely with scientists, data analysts, and IT teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality bioinformatics solutions
Requirements/ Proven experience:
- Project Management:
o Manage complex bioinformatics projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the desired quality standards.
o Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations.
o Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and make necessary adjustments to ensure project success.
- Technical Leadership:
o Provide technical guidance and expertise to the bioinformatics team.
o Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in bioinformatics technologies and tools.
o Evaluate and select appropriate bioinformatics platforms and tools for specific projects.
o Develop and implement robust data pipelines and workflows for data analysis, integration, and visualization.
- Team Management:
o Lead and mentor a team of bioinformatics scientists and analysts (Team Size >10)
o Proven record of recruiting, training, and developing team members to meet the evolving client needs.
- Collaboration:
o Proven record of collaborating with scientists, data analysts, and IT teams to ensure effective communication and alignment of goals.
o Build strong relationships with client C-suite stakeholders.
- Business Development:
o Drive new business opportunities and develop strategies to expand the client base. o Lead development of new service offerings.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in bioinformatics research or development, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- 3+ years of experience in a consultancy role.
- Strong understanding of bioinformatics concepts, tools, and techniques, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.
- Excellent Mandarin Chinese and English communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with bioinformatics software and tools, such as Nextflow.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or R.
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., High Performance AWS, Azure) and data management practices.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
