Job Summary:
The Data Engineer will be responsible for managing and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data storage solutions using Snowflake. This individual will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other IT professionals to ensure data quality, integration, and availability across various platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cloud-based data management systems, specifically Snowflake, and will demonstrate expertise in data modeling, transformation, and processing.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Pipeline Development: Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines using Snowflake and other cloud-based tools to collect, process, and store data from various sources.
ETL/ELT Processes: Develop and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) processes for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and integration.
Data Integration: Integrate data from multiple internal and external sources (e.g., APIs, databases, and third-party services) into the Snowflake platform.
Data Modeling: Create and maintain data models, including star/snowflake schemas and relational data structures, ensuring optimized performance and scalability.
Performance Optimization: Ensure the efficient performance of Snowflake databases, including query performance tuning, optimizing storage, and managing computing resources.
Data Quality and Governance: Implement best practices for data governance, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance standards are met.
Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, business intelligence teams, and stakeholders to ensure seamless data flow, integration, and reporting.
Automation & Monitoring: Implement automated solutions for monitoring and maintaining data pipelines, as well as resolving issues in a timely manner.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architectures, processes, and procedures. Provide regular reports and updates on data pipeline performance and issues.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Certifications: SnoPro Certification (Snowflake Certified Data Engineer or equivalent).
Experience:
Proven experience working as a data engineer, with a focus on cloud-based technologies (preferably Snowflake).
Experience in designing and managing data pipelines and architectures in Snowflake.
Proficient in SQL, including performance tuning and optimization.
Experience with data integration tools, ETL/ELT processes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Experience with version control systems, data monitoring, and automation tools.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of Snowflake architecture, data warehousing, and cloud technologies.
Familiarity with data modeling techniques and schema design.
Experience with programming languages like Python, Java, or Scala for data processing.
Hands-on experience with tools like dbt, Apache Airflow, or similar for data orchestration.
Strong understanding of data security and compliance regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced certifications in Snowflake (e.g., Snowflake Certified Architect, or Developer).
Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
Knowledge of business intelligence and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Industry experience – Natural Resources, Mining Industries
