Tools Management Zone Subject Matter Expert
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Tool Management Zone (TMZ) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to oversee the management, optimization, and integration of enterprise IT tools across our organization. Tools list comprises of Jira, Confluence, Splunk etc.This individual will be responsible for the strategic governance, lifecycle management, and operational efficiency of various IT tools, ensuring they align with business objectives, compliance standards, and best practices. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise and a strong understanding of enterprise IT tool ecosystems, and they will play a critical role in driving operational excellence through effective tool management.
Key Responsibilities:
Tool Governance & Strategy:
Develop and enforce governance policies for IT tool usage, ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
Design and implement a roadmap for tool management aligned with organizational goals, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security.
Tool Inventory & Lifecycle Management:
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all enterprise IT tools, tracking licenses, versions, and usage metrics.
Oversee the lifecycle management of tools from selection, deployment, and maintenance to decommissioning.
Integration & Interoperability:
Ensure seamless integration of IT tools with other enterprise systems to enhance workflow automation and data exchange.
Evaluate tools for compatibility, security, and compliance within the enterprise architecture.
Cost & Resource Optimization:
Analyze the usage and costs of tools, recommending optimization strategies to minimize expenses and avoid redundancy.
Regularly audit the toolset to identify underutilized or outdated tools for possible decommissioning.
Access Management & Security:
Develop and manage role-based access controls and permissions for enterprise tools to ensure appropriate use and security.
Collaborate with the security team to identify and mitigate any vulnerabilities within the IT tool environment.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
Work closely with IT, DevOps, security, and business teams to understand their tool requirements and ensure the right tools are in place.
Serve as a trusted advisor to internal teams, providing expert insights and recommendations on tool best practices.
Tool Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
Implement and maintain monitoring systems to track tool performance, availability, and reliability.
Generate regular reports on tool utilization, impact on business operations, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Vendor Management:
Manage relationships with tool vendors and third-party providers, including negotiation, support escalation, and license management.
Evaluate new tools and technologies, providing recommendations on potential acquisitions or replacements.
Job Qualifications (Must Have Skills)
Must be an Australian Citizen, and a security clearance is desirable. 5+ years of experience in IT tool management or a related role within enterprise IT operations. Proven experience managing enterprise-level tool ecosystems, including monitoring, security, collaboration, and development tools. Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud services, DevOps practices, and automation tools.
Job Qualifications (Preferred Skills)
Understanding of AWS and/Or Azure cloud platforms. Relevant certifications in tool management, IT operations, or project management (e.g., ITIL, PMP) are a plus. Experience with enterprise software deployment in large organizations. Ability to quickly develop prototypes and proof of concepts.
Security Clearance Requirement Given the secure nature of this role, we are seeking candidates who are Australian Citizens with an active security clearance or are eligible for obtaining security clearance.
This requirement ensures that all team members are cleared to handle sensitive information and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of security in our operations.
On-call and Shift Expectations: This position is primarily focused on managed services, meaning you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our clients' IT systems (Applications and Infrastructure). Flexibility and adaptability are key, as you may be required to work in shifts to provide continuous support. Additionally, you may need to be on call to address incidents promptly and perform after-hours deployment activities as needed. Your ability to effectively manage these responsibilities will be crucial to ensuring the seamless operation of our services and client satisfaction.
