Electrical Engineer

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with the broader Industry X team, to provide electrical and process control engineering across the entire project lifecycle—from procurement to construction and beyond.

Our Industry X engineering team provides electrical and process control engineering, procurement, construction and management services to the mining, oil and gas, infrastructure, and manufacturing industries across Australia and overseas.
THE WORK:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to take the lead on a major technology upgrade project involving a detailed review and optimization of existing electrical equipment and systems.
Comprehensive Equipment Reviews: Conduct an in-depth assessment of existing electrical equipment, including VSD drives, soft starters, power meters, smart field instrumentation, and associated communications infrastructure.
Equipment Requirements: Review and approve equipment specifications to ensure alignment with project goals.
Replacement Methodologies Development: Create tailored replacement strategies for each type of electrical equipment.
Documentation and Diagram Creation: Develop updated single-line diagrams, motor schematics, termination drawings, MCC panel layouts, block diagrams, equipment layouts, cable calculations, schedules, and harmonic distortion study reports.
Risk Assessment Execution: Carry out risk assessments to determine safe torque levels for mechanical equipment and drives.
Installation Work Pack Development: Prepare detailed work packs for the installation of new electrical equipment and the implementation of harmonic filters.
Site Installation Oversight: Support and supervise site electrical installations performed by contractors, ensuring quality and safety.
Testing and Documentation Development: Create Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), test records/procedures, heat load calculations, configuration files, FAT/SAT procedures, operator and maintenance manuals, and recommended spare parts lists as needed.
Project Handover Delivery: Provide comprehensive project handover packages, including training materials and post-commissioning support.
Collaborative System Design: Partner with clients and contracting companies to develop innovative electrical system designs, architectures, schematics, block diagrams, and thorough documentation.
Requirements Integration: Select and define requirements for integration into electrical work packages.
Qualifications
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Education: Degree-qualified Engineer with a focus in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in industry, with a solid background in industrial electrical projects.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of relevant electrical regulations
Familiarity with operational technology, SCADA systems and communication protocols.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent technical documentation skills
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Practical Site experience of electrical systems (commissioning and fault-finding experience)
