We recognize that health equity challenges disproportionately affect people of color, immigrants, people of lower socioeconomic status, and LGBTIQ+ groups.

Health inequities based on race and ethnicity are associated with $93 billion in excess annual healthcare costs and cost the economy $42 billion in lost productivity every year.

Accenture has analyzed U.S. healthcare ecosystem participants’ role in health inequities to identify five critical interconnected areas where patients are left behind. We have also envisioned the necessary actions to come closer to achieving health equity. Companies have the opportunity to create and subsequently lead in a new performance frontier of health equity. A reinvention mindset with a health equity lens across the enterprise will make Life Sciences organizations, Health, and Public Health institutions stand apart.

Join us in making a case for humanizing healthcare, as it provides societal, monetary, and moral value to patients and the entire healthcare ecosystem. Progressing health equity through continued learning and change will unlock more human and economic outcomes. 

The HIMSS Global Health Equity Network is expanding HIMSS’ inclusion efforts to ensure that everyone, everywhere has access to health and wellness. The network puts a greater focus on underrepresented groups in health information and technology, drives a more diverse and innovative workforce, and ensures the design of systems and solutions support people from all backgrounds.

Through the African American, Latinx, and Women in Health IT communities, the Network focuses on moving outside of the hospital setting and into the community in order to have the total picture of a person’s health and to address barriers of access to health and wellness.
