Innovation is central to the transition to net zero, and the financial sector is not immune to this. To best support our clients in their transition, banks must continue to evolve. I discussed with Peter Cripps the areas at the frontier that Barclays is exploring, in particular: * Developing transition finance, essential for the decarbonisation of hard to abate, high-emitting sectors * Addressing the financing gaps faced by climate technology companies where collaboration with governments, business and industry to find solutions is key We know that we don’t have all the answers. There’s a sense of real optimism amongst our global banks clients, which is reflected in the results from this year’s FI Sentiment Survey.   2 in 3 are optimistic about the long-term outlook for the financial services sector, as well as the UK economy. Last week saw two important developments: the Transition Finance Market Review (TFMR) released its recommendations on scaling up transition finance, and the Government outlined plans for a new Industrial Strategy and gave an update on the development of the National Wealth Fund. Proud after an exceptionally difficult few months to be announcing my career move to Oberon Investments, from the start of November.
