Job Description
At Accenture, Work Safety & Health Officers work on–site, providing a go–between to management by monitoring OHS compliance and providing technical advice, in accordance with the local laws & regulations. They should have strong administrative skills and be certified through recognized bodies. Work Health & Safety Officers work in an increasingly agile business models, which run 7 days and covers standard and non-standard work-timing.
A registered Safety and Health Officer employed in compliance with section 30 of the OSHA Act will report into the Safety and Health Officer – Senior Analyst and shall have the below duties & Responsibilities in Accenture:
- Promoting healthy and safe working methods and practices in the workplace.
- Identifying, recording and reporting hazards, accidents, injuries and health issues.
- Assisting with investigation of accidents, studying possible causes and providing remedial advice.
- Conducting health and safety training sessions for management, supervisors and workers.
- Assisting with rehabilitation of workers after accidents and overseeing their successful return to work.
- Coordinating emergency procedures and first aid crews.
- Developing OHS plans and monitoring compliance.
- Regularly inspecting the workplace and related tools and equipment to ensure compliance with regulations and to identify risks to safety and health of employees
- Ensure preventive measures are taken to safeguard the safety and health of employees and any other person not in the employment of the employer.
- Advise the employer in writing on practicable measures and appropriate techniques to be implemented to minimize risks in all processes in the undertaking of his employer.
- Design and implement appropriate training programmed to meet the requirements of this Act and any other enactment dealing with occupational safety and health and keep proper records thereof.
- Review any measure, method, procedure, or technique adopted to ensure occupational safety and health at intervals of not more than 2 years or at such intervals as the Permanent Secretary may direct in writing and keep proper records thereof; recommend in writing to the employer appropriate occupational.
- Safety and health programs, where the circumstances so justify.
- Inspect all places of work under his responsibility at least once every month and record his findings in the register provided by the employer.
- Exercise adequate supervision to ensure the effective implementation of arrangements made, and preventive measures taken, by the employer; and enquire into all complaints made by an employee.
- Assess the need for preventive measures to safeguard the safety and health of employees and any other person not in the employment of the employer.
- Develop effective communication systems on occupational safety and health between the employer and any employee.
- Investigate occupational accidents and dangerous occurrences at anyplace of work and make a report thereon and recommend in writing any safety and health measures to be implemented by the employer.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
- Degree in Health and Safety or any equivalent qualifications
- A minimum of 3 - 4 years of relevant work experience
- Experience in corporate environment would be a definite advantage.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage critical path and deadlines.
- Good analytical skills, detail-oriented, knowledge of safety procedures
