Technology Industrial Placement

Gain valuable work experience and get to know our business as you build your technology skills.

Introduction

Our Technology Industrial Placements have been designed specifically for budding technology specialists. You will apply to join one of three areas: Software Engineering, Technology Architecture or Client Delivery. It’s a 12-month programme and starts with a formal induction and a two-week training programme where you’ll study various technologies and methodologies. We’ll then assign you to a project where you’ll build your skills on the job.

Over the course of the placement, you’ll gain exposure to many different assignments from development to deployment. By the end of the year, you should come away with some valuable experience – and hopefully an offer to join us when you graduate.

This placement is undertaken in the third year of a four-year undergraduate degree and you will need to apply whilst in your second year.

 

Software Engineering stream:
Ideally you’ll be studying a degree in computer science, software engineering or a technology-related area of study is typical. However, if you have a real passion for technology and can demonstrate an understanding of how it can be used, we will consider a non-STEM degree. A real interest in software engineering and end-to-end design and delivery is beneficial, and you’ll know a thing or two about programming.

 

Technology Architecture stream:
Ideally you will be studying a STEM or business-related degree. You will be able to collaborate with clients and co-workers alike, with strong communication skills to inspire others to engage in new technologies. You will be a creative problem solver who keeps up to date with emerging technologies and will seek to become an expert in your field.

 

Client Delivery stream:
You’ll need a university degree in any discipline and a passion for technology. You will be an excellent communicator, solution and client and customer focussed. A knowledge of marketing principles, digital marketing, customer experience design is an advantage.

Whilst there may be times where it is necessary to work from home, in order to feel fully integrated we expect that you work in-person on client site or from our London office at least three times per week.

 

Please note that you will need to find and fund your own accommodation within a commutable distance of the London office, but you’ll also need to be fully prepared to travel as client projects could take you anywhere in the country. If we send you on a project further afield, we will cover the additional accommodation costs on your behalf.

Training & development

Lasting 12 months, the programme combines formal training with practical, hands-on experience in live development environments. After a few days spent on a formal induction, you’ll embark on a two-week training programme. Then we’ll assign you to a project where you’ll build your skills on the job.

 

Over the course of the placement, you’ll gain exposure to many different assignments from development to deployment. You’ll build your skills in testing and technologies such as SAP, Oracle, Java/J2EE, C#, BEA Weblogic and more.

Application process

The info you need to know about applying to an Accenture programme.

Online application

Applications for most programmes open in the autumn. To apply, you need to complete an online profile. You can only apply to one programme in any six month period but if you are unsuccessful you can apply to other roles.

Discovery portal

If you are suitable for the role, you’ll be invited to our Discovery Portal. This is an interactive experience and takes about an hour, but there’s no time limit. You’ll receive feedback within a few days.

Assessment centre

If you’re successful at the Discovery Portal stage, you’ll be invited to one of our assessment centres where you’ll take part in a variety of activities designed to help us find out what your strengths are.

Technical interviews

For Software Engineering and Technology Architecture streams, the final stage will be one or two technical interviews with managers from the specialist area you have applied to work in. We’ll give you lots of advice before your interviews.

Offer

Well done! If you’re successful in all the stages we’ll offer you a place on the programme and tell you your start date. If you don’t pass, we’ll give you the opportunity to get feedback.

Onboarding

Three months before your start date, we’ll ask you to provide evidence of your academic results and two references. We’ll then send you details of your training week where we’ll welcome you into Accenture!
