Location - London

Salary - up to £75,000 depending on experience.

Corporate Functions – Marketing & Communications

As part of this team, you’ll play a key role in helping Accenture execute its strategy. You’ll work with a diverse team of innovative marketing and communications experts who focus on the following areas: global brand management and advertising; global events and sponsorships; internal communications; marketing research; media and industry analyst relations; corporate and financial communications; internet marketing; recruitment marketing; client-centric marketing; and industry, service line and geographic marketing campaigns.

Job Description

The purpose of this role is to raise the profile of Accenture’s Public Service industry group, which includes the areas of education, intelligent businesses, public safety, cities, transport and infrastructure, health & human services, and non-profits. This individual is responsible for increasing the media share-of-voice in the US & Europe and working with the global Public Service marketing and media relations teams. In addition, this individual will provide public service media oversight in cooperation with the country-level media network. He/She/They will report to the Global Public Service Media Relations lead and work closely with the relevant Public Service business leads/spokespeople.

This individual will help design and execute proactive strategies and campaigns to maximize opportunities for accurate and positive positioning and media coverage for the Public Service industry group. The responsibilities include direct media relations to tier one and top tier industry media, in addition to crisis management. Results will be geared toward building positive coverage of the company’s Public Service capabilities, assets and offerings.

Overall

  • A strategic, results-oriented thinker focused on generating media attention in support of Accenture’s Public Service business objectives

  • Manage and develop professional working relationships with key journalists and internal clients

  • Ability to function effectively and influence senior leadership within a highly matrixed organization and to align with company’s global brand and its approach to teamwork and collaboration

  • Deliver and execute global and relevant regional Public Service media strategies to support Accenture’s business in key markets

  • Collaborate with media leads in key markets to generate tier-one and top industry media interest in Accenture’s Public Service practices

  • Work with colleagues to lead timely responses to media requests

  • Collaborate closely with the Public Service and other cross-industry marketing teams to identify opportunities and synergies in Accenture’s key markets

  • Ability to shape, identify and distill key media messages from research and marketing material to position Accenture as a thought leader in Public Service

  • Facilitate Public Service media training for our spokespeople as needed

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Experience in media relations/corporate communications. 

  • Public Service communications or journalism background a plus

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Excellent media relations skills and ability to develop stories and understand news cycles – with or without the support of public relations agency resources.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills for audiences ranging from general to business to technical – including news releases, talking points, Q&As, bylines, etc.

  • Understanding of the dynamics and critical issues in the relevant regional Public Service industry

  • Global perspective and understanding of business marketplace

  • Ability to interact well with and provide communications counsel to Accenture leadership daily

  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines

  • Passion for executing deliverables and programs that are of the highest quality, fully support the business strategy and are in line with or exceed leadership expectations.

  • Ability to develop and apply creative solutions to complex issues. 

  • Ability to work autonomously and independently yet integrate appropriately with other areas within marketing and communications across the company.

  • Demonstrate junior management skills and ability to work closely with colleagues, vendors and PR agencies.

  • Solid project management skills

  • Command of MS Office suite and key internet applications for independent research and media management

  • Social media experience (blogs, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+)
