Accounting Analyst

Job Description

The Financial Analyst will be responsible in ensuring that appropriate value adding support is provided to the appropriate Corporate Banners and business units through regular Balance Sheet and P&L review and analysis. Also, you are expected to complete regular entries on a periodic and quarterly basis. You will also be supporting the preparation and completion of reports as required for internal and external reporting purposes. You will collaborate with other teams to automate and optimize current processes to drive efficiencies and create capacity within the business.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare, upload, and approve standard journal entries, including ad hoc requests submitted through SharePoint, or business stakeholders

  • Prepare periodic account reconciliation of balance sheet accounts

  • Prepare & review financial reports and analysis

  • Active involvement with various period end close activities including in depth analysis

  • Liaise with various departments as well as outside agencies as needed

  • Take a lead role in ensuring that department objectives and initiatives are completed

  • Continuously monitor, recommend, and implement process improvement initiatives to increases effectiveness and productivity of the department

  • Conduct presentations to leadership groups.

  • Assist with ad-hoc and cross-functional projects and initiatives as required

  • Commitment to promoting a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging

  • Act as a backup for colleagues that are on leave

  • Various other duties as required

Qualifications

What you will need:

  • Strong Excel knowledge / experience would be considered an asset

  • Strong English and/or French (optional) communication both oral and written

  • Ability to converse comfortably with business partners

  • Intermediate experience with spreadsheet applications, word documents and email (office suite)

  • Professional attitude (business attire, communication with colleagues, positive attitude, professional demeanor)

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail and commitment to excellence

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or part of a team

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to problem solve and offer constructive solutions

  • Ability to meet required deadlines/targets

  • Be flexible and able to adapt to change in a positive manner
