Alan Jope has been a member of Accenture’s board of directors since April 2023. He served as the chief executive officer of Unilever, a multinational consumer products company headquartered in the UK, from 2019 through June 2023.
After joining Unilever in 1985, Alan served as president of Unilever’s Beauty & Personal Care division and also worked in various leadership roles for 11 years in the UK, 14 years in North America and 13 years in Asia (Thailand, China, Singapore). He was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2019 and retired from Unilever in 2023.
Alan is chair of the Board of Trustees of The Leverhulme Trust, the UK’s largest private sector funder of non-medical academic research. He also serves on the Board of the Global Energy Alliance for People & Planet, and as a Commissioner on the Global Commission for Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking.
Alan holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Edinburgh University, Scotland. He also graduated from Harvard Business School's General Management Program and is a Visiting Fellow at the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford.
